It has been a nice though because when he's awake I have to watching him all the time to prevent accidents in the house. Speaking of house breaking, he's doing great!! He's only made a handful of accidents. We have laid out two puppy pads in the house for the times we don't make it outside and he uses those on his own most of the time! We are such proud puppy parents :-)
We are having some trouble crate training him. He seems to HATE being in his crate when we aren't with him. He seems to be suffering from a bit of separation anxiety right now, which from what I've read, seems normal at his age (8 weeks). The poor guy did just get taken from his brothers and is now living in a strange home with 2 weird people.
Since he gets so upset in his crate we have been letting him sleep by our bed in a pimped out laundry basket, and so far that is working wonderfully. The first night he slept 6 straight hours and the second night he slept 7 straight hours. You rock, Charlie!
Each day I am trying to take one short outing to get Charlie used to being by himself because, although I'm not working right now, my part-time job starts in 3 weeks. I am so thankful
that I'm able to be home with him right now though and really bond with the little guy. He's seriously so fun and we are so happy we picked him (actually he kinda picked us, he wouldn't leave our side when we went to pick one out of the litter). He's so calm, sweet, and loves to be held and give lots of puppy kisses. I think we got pretty lucky with this guy. If you live in the area, (or even if you don't, he's worth the trip) stop by and visit! Charlie loves meeting new people!
I'm sure there will be many more puppy updates on the horizon but for now we'll leave it at this: We love our Charlie!
oh charlie, i love you!!!!
